Lay the mat on the floor with the bear’s arms spread wide. Place your little one face up on the mat. Pass one arm through the left hand sleeve. Bring the bear’s arm across your little one’s body and secure with the Velcro. Repeat for the right hand side. Kneel on the kneepads and enjoy a fast, wriggle-free change!
Fold the left strap as shown in the video and then the right strap. Next, fold the mat on the left hand seam into the centre. Repeat for the right hand side. Then fold from the bottom up one third of the mat, then up the second third and finish by folding over the ears onto the Velcro patches.

How does The Wriggler travel changing mat work?
When the adorable bear character’s arms cross the baby’s body and the parent kneels on the attached kneepads it gently anchors mat and baby in place so there’s no more rolling over and crawling away. Using The Wriggler anti-roll changing mat with straps means your hands are freed up for fast and easy changing.

Will my child be able to roll over and crawl away with it on her back?
No way! When the bear’s arms cross the baby’s torso and you kneel on the attached kneepads, it anchors the mat and baby in place, which means your hands are freed up for a fast and easy change with your anti-roll changing mat.
Will my baby cry in The Wriggler travel changing mat?
We designed The Wriggler based on a problem we experienced with our own little ones. Their well-being is our number one priority and our goal from the start was to create a solution that would make nappy changing less stressful for us and, importantly, for them too. While it may take a couple of nappy changes for your child to get used to The Wriggler, the feedback on babies’ experiences has been overwhelmingly positive. In fact, we, and many of the parents who have tested it, have found that in addition to stopping the wrestling match, it has a calming effect on their little ones, as if the bear’s arms give them a feeling of security, or as one parent called it, a ‘swaddle-like effect’.
Why is my baby so calm in The Wriggler anti roll changing mat?
The Wriggler has been designed with the principles of Deep Touch Pressure in mind. Deep Touch Pressure (DTP) refers to a form of tactile sensory input which is often provided by firm holding, cuddling, hugging and squeezing. The idea of deep touch pressure goes back to a basic human behaviour known to calm us – being held. We use DTP all the time with our little ones – swaddling them when they are new-borns, hugging them when they are upset, or placing a gentle hand on their chest to soothe them back to sleep. As long as there is gentle, distributed weight, there will be benefits from DTP.
Through Deep Touch Pressure (DTP), receptors become stimulated which helps the body to relax, feel more grounded and safe. Specifically, clinical studies suggest that DTP acts as a calming or focusing agent by increasing activity in the parasympathetic nervous system, and lowering activity in the sympathetic nervous system. Taken together, this means an increase in endorphins (happy hormones) and decreased heart rate and blood pressure (reduced stress). DTP also causes the release of the neurotransmitters serotonin, known as the ‘calming chemical’, and dopamine, in the brain. Children benefit not only from this release of serotonin but also from the decrease in heart rate and blood pressure that result from the calming effect on the nervous system.
All of these principles of DTP were kept in mind in designing The Wriggler. We hoped that the bear’s arms crossing the child’s torso would give the feeling of gentle, distributed weight on the body, resulting in a calming, relaxing effect for the baby. As a result, we feel that when parents report their baby’s sense of calm in the Wriggler, what they are seeing is the child feeling this sense of security similar to being swaddled…the bear’s arms cocooning their torso works to ease stress and allow for a calm and relaxed nappy change.
When folded, The Wriggler is 20cm x 23cm x 5cm. When it is laid flat it measures 75cm by 45cm.
What materials are The Wriggler made from?
The Wriggler anti-roll changing mat is made from premium quality materials. The printed wipable material that the child lies on is a special Polyurethane Laminate (PUL). PUL is most commonly used in cloth nappies, which means it is gentle next to baby’s skin, waterproof and super easy to wipe clean (even the bear’s arms!). All materials, including the printed fabric are non-toxic, lead-free, BPA and phthalate free too.
Does it matter which strap I put across first?
Yes. The strap from the left to right must be fitted first as this will attach to the Velcro patch on the surface of the mat. Then put the right-left strap across as the video instructions above show.
What are the product care instructions for The Wriggler?
We know that busy parents don’t have time to machine wash changing mats between nappy changes! So we wanted a mat that was super easy to clean. That’s why all of the materials, including the bear’s arms, can be wiped clean with a disinfectant or standard baby wipe.
Lay flat or hang to air dry. Do not machine wash. Do not iron.

Safety is of the utmost importance to us, which was an important reason The Wriggler was created. Every year for children less than 1 year of age, falls account for over 50% of admissions to emergency departments, and falls from changing tables, beds and sofas are among the most common furniture from which they fall. It is not surprising, therefore, that the most common recommendation from safety experts and paediatricians to avoid injuries is that babies should be changed on a changing mat on the floor.
The Wriggler is specifically designed to be used on the floor for fast, safe, wriggle-free nappy changing. As such, the following product warnings are important to bear in mind:
